Different Interests

So last week I did a poll on self-tanner usage.

What fun.I have to say that the answers surprised me a little, and I am rarely surprised by poll results. 34% of you have no interest in self-tanners. I'm sure that most of you in that group are already tan and thus don't feel the need to add colour to yourself. The rest, I have to presume, just don't know the magic of this product, because trust me once you use it properly, you love the effect.

I could relate to the 26% who only use this product once in a while and to tell you the truth, the upkeep can get kind of tiresome. I don't know how people stay tan all year round and I have to conclude that there is some harmful sun damage at work there.

At the end of the day: 34% not interested means that 66% are interested and that's a lot. This means self-tanner reviews for a little while atleast. I love using them in the summer to even out a tan that was inadvertently obtained and to make myself look healthier.

Sunscreen Poll Results

Interesting information, no? I thought more people would be sun worshippers, but I guess not! Still, almost 30% of people who answered actually consciously suntan. Very interesting.

Mineral Makeup Poll Results

I was actually shocked at the results of this poll: 54% of those of you who voted use mineral makeup, and 18% of you will try it. 9% of you want to see more reviews, which means that at least 81% of everyone who voted will be interested in reading about the newest mineral makeup products - and that's where I come in. Luckily, I've got several new reviews in the works, and already this year, I've been trying a lot more mineral makeup.

The one brand that I don't use is Bare Escentuals, so I won't be talking about that one. They just don't have a foundation colour that looks perfect on my skin and I'm afraid they don't do warm tones perfectly. It's disappointing because I've heard great things about their line.

In any case, you can also read my other reviews of mineral makeup products.

Know of a brand you think I should try, let me know in the comments.

Oh, and if you're sticking to regular foundation, I want to know why.

Poll Results

To tell you the truth, it was just as I suspected....

My Readers are Adventurous

At least that's what I'm gathering from the latest poll results. 70% of people who answered the poll said that they would wear a scent intended for the opposite sex, and I'm just going to assume that most of these people would have no qualms actually buying the perfume at the men's counter too.

Interesting. Also, I have a girl friend who wears Axe body spray (yes, that kind that men wear) because she loves how it smells. But she also wears Victoria Secret body spray to mix it up once in a while, so I guess she, like most of us, gets the best of both worlds.

Last Week's Poll Results

Last week poll results are in - most of you spend between $21 to $50 a month on beauty products which is what I thought. I'm guessing that most people invest in a new lipgloss or lipstick every now and then, and splurge for a foundation or palette or fragrance at other times. Throw in the odd mascara purchase (every 3 to 6 months?) and the purchase of hair or shower products when needed rounds out the spending. Am I right? Maybe that's just me...

Canadian Beauty News: July 20, 2007

Interesting things are a-brewing in the beauty world, so lets begin!

First things first, the Poll!
A big thanks to everyone that voted! It's important for me to see what you all like! I'm going to have more polls in the future, and I'm just thinking about my next one right now...

Also, I had a giveaway this week! A big thanks to everyone who posted their Maybelline New York Great Lash story!

News

Firstly, I found this Australian article about a magazine that was offering free Softlips lipbalm to kids - the problem? The lipgloss was Tequila, Vodka, and Margheritas and so there was an outraged that alchohol-flavoured lipbalm was being given to kids. It seems that the outrage was because the lipbalm was being freely given to kids rather than because there was alcohol-flavoured lipbalm in the first place.

I, of course, was immediately reminded of Urban Decay's Cocktail Collection which features products that smell like Pina Coladas, Cosmos and Mai Tais. Though nobody is giving these away for free, we know that kids have the option of going into any Sephora and buying whatever they want. Why isn't there outrage over that?

MAC's New Collection

Yesterday, I showed you some of the products from MAC's new collection, but here's a list of everything that's included in it:

Lipglass

Perfectly Pink Creamy mid-tone pink (cream)
Flashtronic Caramel bronze with subtle gold pearl (cream)
Young Spark Neutral pink with subtle gold pearl (cream)
Electro-Lush Creamy blue pink (cream)

Mineralize Eye Shadow

By Jupiter Light taupe with beige and deep brown veining (frost)
Tectonic Yellow gold with lime green, warm brown and black veining (frost)
Ether Deep aqua with silver, black and gold veining (frost)
Mercurial Yellow gold with lilac and chestnut veining (frost)
Lovestone Raspberry with wine and copper veining (frost)
Quarry Sky blue with olive, coral and beige veining (frost)

Mineralize Skinfinish

Northern Light Mid-tone pink with rust and grey brown veining
Gold Spill Pink peach with warm brown and cream pearl
Global Glow Mid-tone brown with gold pearl

My favourite product is the Gold Spill Mineralize Skinfinishwhich I'm wearing today as eyeshadow. I've found that the mineralize eyeshadows are very glittery, and the skinfinishes are exactly what I'm looking for in daytime makeup. Also, you really can pick and choose different shades to use from each compact. Choosing an area with lighter coloured veining lets me use the compact as a highlighter, and darker veining can be used in the crease. This is exactly what I need at this point in the summer!

Product Find!

If you're in the market for new makeup cases, head over to The Burchard Collection and check their offerings out. They have everything you could need to organize your makeup neatly and compactly. The small case is great for traveling, but the large one is nice to have on hand at home. Just attach velcro to the bottom of the little plastic containers and they're safely stored in the case!
