Pantene Ice Shine Hair Spray

Truth be told, I've used this hair spray a few times and the first time I tried it I wasn't sure if I liked it because it was stronger than I was used to. Then I saw a hair stylist use the Ice Shine on a model and I couldn't get over how shiny and amazing her hair looked - just like in a Pantene commercial except she was real right before my very eyes!

So I tried the hairspray again. I held out my arm as far as I could before spraying and the results were much better. I would say that it's medium hold and has a lovely amount of shine in it. If you've tried this before, I would like to hear what you think, so leave me a comment!

Pantene Restoratives

For the past couple of weeks I've been using the Frizz Control Shampoo and Conditioner from the Pantene Restoratives line.

The duo of the two products is great. They add shine to your hair, and clean it without making it at all dry.
The shampoo is just creamy enough to be conditioning and moisturizing. The conditioner is super thick so it stays in your hair for as long as you need it to. I didn't notice a lot of build up with this shampoo but if you do, using a clarifying shampoo every few days will help. I did notice that I didn't need to use as much serum when I used the pair, and that always makes my life a little easier. Overall, I had shiny smooth hair and frizz was noticeably reduced!

The duo is in drugsotres now so if you've got dry or frizzy hair, try it!

Pantene Essential Hydrating Rinse

If you've got dry hair, you've got to try Pantene Essential Hydrating Rinse. It is so moisturizing and will leave your hair much softer.Leave it in your hair for 3 minutes and see how easily you can brush through your hair afterwards. That's always a good sign.

Pantene Extra Straight

Pantene's come out with a new collection called Extra Straight. The line includes a shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in conditioning product.

I've been using this whole system. The shampoo and conditioner are great - they are so moisturizing and leave my hair noticeably shiny and healthy-looking. But I don't think that they're making my hair any straighter.

That is what you need the conditioning cream for.

I have to say that every single time I used this cream, I found it to leave my hair straighter when it dried. It was kind of amazing. I don't know how it works, or what makes my hair straighter - all I know is that the curl was noticeably minimized. If you have wavy hair, I think this will make your hair straight. If you have curly hair and regularly straighten it, then you'll find that this cream makes it easier to do and that the straightening will really last. Try it - it is on drugstore counters everywhere.

Pantene Anti-Frizz Creme Moisturizing Curls Shaper

I have been using the Pantene Anti-Frizz Creme forever. Seriously, I've been using this for over 5 years and I've rebought it many times. If you have curly hair, you will love this. It is really amazing at defining your hair and doesn't make it crunchy at all.

But that's not all that this creme is good for. It's also amazing for straightening your hair! It gives it just the right amount of hold so that you can get your hair to stay the way you want it to. It's pretty amazing.

I sometimes put it at the top of my hair and smooth the top out, because I like the top of my hair smooth and straight and the rest of my hair wavy. Try this stuff.

Also, I have seen that at the drugstore, there are many Pantene products in this same pump-style bottle. I checked the ingredients and they are more or less the same, just so you know.

Pantene Pro-V Texturize! Sculpting Wax

Normally, I stay far away from products that have texturize or sculpting in their titles because these are products that are going to be too sticky for my long hair. I like my hair soft and touchable and anything with a strong hold isn't going to do it for me.

But then I watched these videos on styling your hair for the holiday party season:

Pantene Pro-V Style Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3. (The videos are short and fun to watch incase you're wondering.)

Although I knew that my hair wouldn't magically transform itself into curls like the ones in the videos, I was persuaded to try the Texturize! wax and I'm happy to say that I like it a lot!

I use it mostly on the ends of my hair sparingly and it defines them just so. I love that it's not at all sticky and when you first touch it, it has a watery consistency which means that it's easily worked into your hair without needing much body heat to be properly emulsified. This is not your typical hair wax, and if you haven't tried a putty of this kind recently, this might be one to consider.

Reader Feedback!

I've had some awesome feedback from my readers this week and I thought that I should link to it.

One of my readers commented on the Pantene Beautiful Lengths post and said that she's hosting a party for the event. If you are interested in attending, email Sherri at sherriklein@hotmail.com.

I also had two great gift guide suggestions in response to the gift guide tagging post I had: Tiff said that a day at a spa never goes unappreciated and another reader said that gift certificates to grocery stores or other stores such as Walmart are really great for those who need them. I have to agree.

I was planning on getting my boss a black skinny tie - they are very in right now, but he showed up to work the next day wearing one so that idea's bait. I still think it's a great present, but obviously only for those men that don't have one already. What are you getting your boss?

Pantene Beautiful Lengths

I've reviewed Pantene products on this site, but it's now time to direct your attention towards a worthy cause that Pantene is heading. Check out Pantene Beautiful Lengths. The campaign is meant to support women who have lost their hair because of cancer treatments. Hilary Swank is the spokesperson, and on Oprah she cut off 9 inches of her hair to donate to the Beautiful Lengths campaign. The hair goes towards making wigs for women who have lost their hair due to cancer. The cause is definitely a worthy one.

I encourage everyone to check out the Pantene Beautiful Lengths website and consider donating what they can to this cause.

Pantene Pro-V Hair Serum Review and Recommendation

Now I personally love hair serums because they really do add a sleekness and shine to your hair that other products just can't, but I am aware that there are people who hate serums. To some they are greasy, hard to use, and just plain useless.

If you're in the latter category, I want to point you in the direction of the Pantene Pro-V shelf of the hair care aisle at your local grocery or drugstore.Get your hands on the Pantene Always Smooth Anti-Frizz Serum. It is the most lightweight serum that I have ever tried. It makes your hair smooth and shiny but there is absolutely no weighing down of the hair and rest assured you will not look like you stepped out of a vat of oil. Plus, it gives you extra conditioning at a time of year where you might be seeing more dryness than usual. If you regularly hate serums, get this one, and if you like something thicker, note that Pantene makes this in an extra-strength version as well.

It's Not Just for Kids

By now it's no secret that I love a good leave-in conditioner and besides serum, this is the one product that I always stock in my bathroom. But I'm sorry to say that I had never before tried a detangler. I had thought that they were mostly hype and had thus stayed away even when one of my close friends admitted that she used the No More Tangles stuff that's made for kids.

In any case, I'm happy to report that I've crossed on to the other side. Pantene Pro-V Detangling (Light Conditioning Mist) is a product that does what it says. Spray it into your hair (dry or wet) and comb through. I was amazed to see that my comb passed through my hair quickly and easily without any muss or fuss, and all without having a bubble-gum scented bright pink bottle in my bathroom. The best part? It doesn't smell too strong so you don't have to worry about over-spraying. Follow up with your styling product of choice and you're ready to go.

Silkening for Your Hair

Pantene's Silkening Creme is already on shelves. You may have been wondering, what it is and how the heck it works. It's part leave in conditioner, part smoothing creme, totally weightless, no serum needed. That's what it is - in a nutshell. No matter what kind of hair you have, you're going to want to have this on standby. Use it on it's own and smooth it in while your hair is wet. One dry, your hair is defined and smooth - not heavy and not stiff in any way... just... managed! It's pretty cool actually and you have to try it for yourself.

Pantene Pro-V Texturize Hair Spray

I don't know what the heck I was thinking when I tried this. I use hairspray once in a while and I thought that this would provide a stronger sort of bond but still leave my hair sort of fresh looking.

No.

This is definitely for those people who have shorter hair and already have a chunkier style going on. ! It leaves your hair very stiff but still sort of moldable but not in a natural run-your-fingers-through-your-hair way. This is a fine product but don't try it if you have longer hair. Also, you will definitely need to wash your hair after using this because of the product build up.

Canadian Beauty News: April 13, 2007

This is an exciting week for Canadian Beauty news! I have so much to report!

The most exciting news first!

Starting TODAY April 13th and going until May 13th Proctor and Gamble is running the Look Fab Studio at 33 Bloor Street East. The Studio is like a pop-up booth that are all the rage right now in Europe. All the products are by Proctor and Gamble whose brands include: Pantene Pro-V, CoverGirl, Oil of Olay, Clairol, Venus, Crest, and Braun haircare appliances. You can go into the studio during the day without an appointment and get your makeup done using CoverGirl products, get your hair dyed with Clairol hair colouring, and have it washed and styled with Pantene Pro-V products - all for free.

The event runs from April 13, 2007 to May 13, 2007
so head on over and check it out! You can also get some great free samples and coupons. Also, if you haven't grabbed a copy of P&G's Rouge Magazine, take a look because it's filled with tons of great coupons, including $10 a Braun hair care appliance or 2 weeks free membership to Curves.

Check out the Look Fab Studio website for more details. The Studio is having events all month so there's tons to see.

New Celebrity Endorsements

Drew Barrymore
is going to be the new face of Cover Girl Cosmetics - unlike Queen Latifah who had involvement in the expansion of the Cover Girl product line, Drew will focus more on how the ad campaign will be shot and its content. I can still picture Drew saying "Easy Breezy Beautiful, CoverGirl!" in her bubbly voice but maybe after doing a few karate chops.

In other celeb signings, Linda Evangelista will be the new international ambassador for L'Oreal Cosmetics! (Quick reminder that she's Canadian!) This means that there will be a new shade of lipstick and other cosmetic products designed with Linda's signature in mind. I love the whole Star Secrets collection by L'Oreal so I can't wait to see what they'll come out with.

Holt Renfrew Beauty Cuisine

From April 20th to mid May, Holt Renfrew is hosting a series of events with different cosmetic departments. The list is extensive, but the event is called Beauty Cuisine. Like any good restaurant, they are serving up a wide array of events with something for everyone. Some events are free and some aren't and a few allow you to use your fee towards the purchase of cosmetics. Some events include food while others are demonstrations. Call your nearest Holt's to find out what's happening near you!

Pantene Conditioner

When I was in India, I mentioned that I missed my Pantene conditioner. It's pretty clear that Pantene conditioners are what we think of when we need something to care for dry and damaged hair.

I personally love Pantene's Brunette Expressions conditioners. They're thick and rich and come in huge bottles. Also, ounce for ounce, this is one of the cheapest conditioners at the drugstore. You really don't need to break the bank if you want to take care of your hair. Give this a try if you're dealing with winter hair.
