Canadian Beauty News: June 8, 2007

This week on Canadian Beauty news: a Philosophy product review, a few sneak peeks of products that you should see on shelves soon and a review of L'Oreal's HIP pigments. Here we go!
Philosphy - I love Grapefruit
Philosphy has introduced its own contender in the grapefruit scent of products - the I Love Grapefruit line. As can be predicted, the products smell like grapefruit but this scent is a little sweeter and definitely not as strong as the offerings by Fresh or The Body Shop. I love Philophy body butters, and if I was picking up a product, that one would be my choice. They are less greasy than most and still very thick.

Estee Lauder After Hours Collection - sneak peek.

Estee Lauder fans, pay attention - come July, there will be a new collection to fawn over. The After Hours collection is meant to help you achieve a dramatic look. The line features some of the following products:

Pure Color Eyeshadows in Silver Moon, Pale Moon, and Mocha Cup (pictured, Pure Color Eyeshadow in Mocha cup, a shimmering greyish taupe)

Double Wear Stay-in-Place ShadowStick in Pink Pearl and Silver Pearl (shown: silver pearl)

Pure Color Lipstick in After Hours Red, Bois de Rose, Midnight Rose, and Midnight Pink (shown: Midnight Pink which is a pearly dark pink almost red colour)

Limited Edition Brilliant Shimmer All-Over Powder (pictured - large tri-coloured compact). [If you look closely at the picture above, you'll see that there's a large shimmery smudge near the powder - that's the colour it looks if you blend all three shades together. The three smaller smudges is each of the shades separately, with the lightest shade barely visible against the white of the paper. It's a goregeous opalescent colour that's perfect for any skintone. The whole compact gives a lovely coral-bronze glow to the skin that would be suitable day or night.) I adore this compact!

I think that this collection is perfect for the summertime weddings and night parties that might be coming your way. The dark mouth is easier to pull off with pale eyeshadows and the collection offers you reds and pinks to choose from in the lipstick category.

Stay tuned for more Estee Lauder product peeks coming later this week!

L'Oreal HIP Eyeshadows

FINALLY! These eye shadows are now available in Canada and can be found at your local Shoppers Drugmart! Above is the picture that I took of the eye shadows. They come in two formulae - Bright and Concentrated and I've labelled the picture so you know which formula the colours belong to. Both are excellent and give you great pigment payoff in just a few swipes. Click on the picture to see the eye shadows in all their beautifully pigmented glory. I especially love the gold in the Flare duo - it's got a hint of holographic orange in it and makes it stand out. I'll also be lining my eyes with the blues in the Showy duo. The best part is that they also come with a mirror that's tucked underneath the compact. I have to say that the mirror is really lux - it's full sized and a real mirror - an excellent addition for a drugstore product.

That's it for this week! Here's a preview of upcoming reviews and news here on Canadian Beauty:

- a sneak peek at more Estee Lauder products
- a bit on a highly anticipated perfume
- a full feature on a product that usually doesn't last in the summer heat

Stay tuned!
